CRUISING 101

For those who do not know, Greg and I have become addicted to cruising. We went for the first time last year and had an amazing time. I have travelled, backpacked and explored a lot of places and I have stayed in dives and fabulous hotels. I have put in my time "roughin'" it...just ask Todd and Ellen and while those have all been great experiences, it does not compare to to cruising. Granted, on a cruise you DO get mostly old people who assume that we are related..."Are you two brothers?" That's when I lay a big kiss on Greg and smile...anyway. While the people are not as edgy and it does not always have the excitement of exploring a foreign place as most of the travelling I have done, it does have one thing "Pampering". Think of these ships as floating resorts. You can sit on the balcony, gamble, drink, eat and do whatever while still being able to see 4 or 5 foreign countries. You are spoiled that is for sure.

We made these reservations back in May of 2002 so it has been like the light at the end of the tunnel...everyday when things get dreary and drab and boring, we just think this cruise and have something to look forward to. It also takes a lot of the anxiety out of travelling that I have often encountered in places like Cambodia, Vietnam and Europe..no need to worry about where you will be.

January 13th we are going on a cruise for two weeks. Last time we went for 4 days and it was just too short. Now for those of you who think it lacks adventure, we have already booked a white water rafting trip and snorkelling. I'll admit that cruising is not something young people or couples really dig, but that is because all the old people keep it a secret. They are too busy spending their kids' inheritance on cruises, so trust me, it is fun.

We have a balcony, the only way to go, since you have your own view of the ocean and it is very relaxing. We are going to Cozumel, Puerto Limon, Panama Canal, Jamaica and the Grand Cayman...none of these places I have been to. We are actually going to go through part of the canal which will be quite cool. Definately one of the most important engineering feats in the last 200 years.

I have included a link to our ship. We are cruising on the Splendour of the Seas in room 7086 so feel free to send presents. Ha! We will post some pics once we get back, but that won't be until the 24th.

By the way people...leave some God Damn comments OK..you think I do this for my health!! Jeez !! <----- REALLY needs a vacation
